I know you speak English, but can you speak any other language like German or Dutch? In this article, you will learn how to name 17 different languages of the world in Spanish and also 17 chunks to speak about languages, so you are prepared for your next language-related conversation with Spanish natives!

Country names change de un idioma a otro (from one language to another), sometimes in a subtle way, like Canadá (Canada), and sometimes completely, like Alemania (Germany).
The same happens with languages, and even though some of them are easy to guess, others are a bit more complicated.
Languages of the World
1. German
En Alemania se habla alemán (German is spoken in Germany).
By the way, this is the chunk we use to say that a certain language is spoken in a certain country:
- En ____________ se habla ____________.
2. Arabic
El árabe se habla en más de 40 países (Arabic is spoken in over 40 countries).
3. Czech
El checo se habla en República Checa (Czech is spoken in The Czech Republic)
4. Korean
El coreano se habla tanto en Corea del Sur como en Corea del Norte (Korean is spoken in both South and North Korea)
5. Chinese
El chino es el idioma más antiguo del mundo. (Chinese is the oldest language in the world)
6. Basque
Okay! I actually just learned it’s not “vasco”, but euskera, and es un idioma que se habla al norte de España (it’s a language spoken in Northern Spain)
¿Quién lo hubiera pensado? (Who would’ve thought?)
7. French
El francés es uno de los idiomas más románticos del mundo (French is one of the most romantic languages in the world).
8. Greek
El griego es un idioma que se habla desde hace 3,400 años (Greek is a language that has been spoken for 3,400 years).
9. Hebrew
El hebreo se considera comúnmente como un idioma sagrado (Hebrew is commonly considered a sacred language)
10. Dutch
El holandés es una lengua oficial de la Unión Europea (Dutch is an official language of the European Union).
11. Italian
El italiano es una lengua romance (Italian is a Romance language).
12. Japanese
El japonés es uno de los idiomas que se hablan más rápido en el mundo (Japanese is one of the fastest spoken languages in the world).
13. Norwegian
El noruego es una lengua escandinava (Norwegian is a Scandinavian language).
14. Polish
El idioma polaco es rico en sonidos (The Polish language is rich in sounds).
15. Portuguese
En Portugal y en Brasil se habla portugués (Portuguese is spoken in Portugal and Brazil).
16. Romanian
Puedes entender el rumano si has estudiado otras lenguas romances (You can understand Romanian if you have studied other Romance languages).
17. Turkish
El turco es una de las lenguas más antiguas de la humanidad (Turkish is one of the oldest languages of mankind).
