Privacy Policy

Spring Languages is run by Emergent Solutions BV (company details above). This policy explains what personal data we handle when you use springlanguages.com, sign up for our emails or buy a course, why we handle it, who helps us, and what you can ask of us.

The short version

• Reading lessons and pages on this website does not require any personal data from you. We don’t use advertising, tracking cookies or tracking pixels, so there is no cookie banner.
• If you sign up for a free kit or our emails, we store your email address (and your first name if you give it) and a record of your consent, and we use them only to send what you signed up for.
• Courses, checkout and the community run on the platforms named below, which process your data for us.
• You can unsubscribe with one click in every email, and you can ask us to see, correct or delete your data at any time.

Who is responsible

Emergent Solutions BV is the controller of your personal data under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Our company details (registered address, enterprise number and VAT number) are shown at the top of this page. Contact: support@springlanguages.com.

What we collect and why

When you visit the website

• Server and security data. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, processes technical data needed to deliver pages and protect the site: your IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time. This is necessary to run a secure website (our legitimate interest). Cloudflare keeps these logs only briefly.
• Visitor statistics. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits, popular pages, referring websites and countries. It does not use cookies, does not store your IP address and does not follow you across websites. We use it to understand which lessons are useful (legitimate interest).
• Images, audio and downloads are delivered from media.springlanguages.com by our media provider, Publitio, which processes your IP address to deliver the file.
• Videos. Lesson videos are hosted on YouTube. Nothing is loaded from YouTube until you press play. When you do, the video loads from YouTube’s privacy-enhanced domain (youtube-nocookie.com), and from then on Google processes data about that viewing and may store cookies or similar data on your device under Google’s privacy policy.

When you sign up for a free kit or our emails

We ask for your email address (and sometimes your first name) and your consent to receive the kit, lessons and related emails. We store:

• your email address and, if given, your first name;
• the list you signed up for and the page you signed up on;
• the date and time and the consent text you agreed to, as proof of your consent.

We use this only to send you what you signed up for: the kit, new lessons, learning tips and, where the signup text says so, information about our courses. The legal basis is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time with the unsubscribe link in every email.

Our email service is MailerLite. If we move to another email provider, we will update this policy before your data is moved.

To keep our forms free of spam, form submissions are checked by Cloudflare (for example rate limiting and bot checks). This uses the technical data of the request and no tracking cookies.

When you buy a course or join the community

Courses, checkout and the community run on separate platforms that process your data on our behalf:

• Teachable (courses.springlanguages.com and Teachable checkout): your account, name, email address, course progress and purchase records;
• ThriveCart (checkout.springlanguages.com): your name, email address, billing details and purchase records;
• Circle (our community): your profile and the posts and messages you share there.

Payments are handled by the payment providers those platforms use. We never see or store your full card details.

We use this data to give you access to what you bought, to support you, and to keep the records the law requires. The legal basis is the contract with you and our legal obligations (accounting and tax). Each platform also has its own privacy policy, shown when you use it.

When you email us

If you write to support@springlanguages.com, we use your message and email address to answer you. Our email runs on Google Workspace.

These providers process personal data for us under their data processing terms. We don’t sell your personal data and we don’t share it for advertising.

Transfers outside the EU

Some of these providers are based in, or use sub-processors in, countries outside the European Economic Area, such as the United States. Where that happens, the transfer is covered by the EU-US Data Privacy Framework (for certified providers) or by the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses.

How long we keep data

• Email subscribers: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete your data. We keep the record of your consent and unsubscribe for as long as we need it to prove that we respected your choice.
• Customers: for as long as you have access to a course or the community, and purchase records for as long as Belgian accounting and tax law requires.
• Support emails: as long as needed to handle your question, and then for a reasonable period in case you follow up.
• Server logs and statistics: for the short periods set by Cloudflare. Statistics are stored in aggregate only.

Cookies

This website does not set cookies for visitors and uses no tracking cookies, advertising cookies or tracking pixels. That’s why you don’t see a cookie banner.

Cookies or similar storage can appear in two situations that you choose yourself:

• when you press play on a YouTube video (set by Google, see above);
• when you go to a platform we link to, such as the course, checkout or community sites, which have their own cookie policies.

If we ever add a cookie that isn’t strictly necessary, we will ask for your consent first and update this policy.

Your rights

You can ask us to:

• show you the personal data we hold about you and give you a copy;
• correct it;
• delete it;
• limit how we use it, or object to how we use it;
• send it to you or another service in a portable format;
• stop sending you emails (or use the unsubscribe link in any email).

Email support@springlanguages.com. We’ll answer within one month. If you think we have handled your data wrongly, you can also file a complaint with the Belgian Data Protection Authority (www.dataprotectionauthority.be) or the data protection authority where you live.

Children

Our website and courses are not aimed at children under 16, and we don’t knowingly collect their personal data. If you believe a child has signed up, email us and we will delete their data.

Changes to this policy

When we change this policy, we update the date at the top of this page. If a change affects how we use data you have already given us, we will tell you by email before it takes effect.
