You’ll love 100% in Mazatlan or you marry her and live in Cancun and sign to a rewards program since she/ both of you will be flying frequently to MAZ.
Family is very important (including friends) so we are not deattached as other cultures.

I moved to Colombia from USA. I can speak Spanish enough to “get by” but MAN DO I FIND IT DIFFICULT UNDERSTANDING WHAT PEOPLE ON THE STREET ARE SAYING!!!!They speak so fast! The common people — taxi drivers, store clerks, even doctors…Hiw do I fix this? I attended one of the top universities here for gringos trying to learn Spanish, for two months, and it did not help! I simply spent money. Any suggestions?

In Mexico, and I believe in other countries as well, the Americas are one continent. In the UK, North America, Germany and other countries, they are two continents.

“The States” is very commonly used to refer to the US, not just by foreign born Americans.

It is also very common to refer to the US rather than America, much as we distinguish between the UK, Britain and the individual nations that make up the United Kingdom.
